About the Chamber

The Jewish Chamber of Commerce is a professional organization that brings people together for business purposes.

Non-religious, the Chamber connects people who are culturally Jewish to highly religiously observant, as well as non-Jews who want to do business with the Jewish Community.

Our slogan, Culturally Connected, Business Minded reminds us that we have a similar foundation and our purpose for gathering.

To unpack that, we are bound together through our culture. Values are one of the best cultural indicators. While we aim to embrace many, such as business ethics, joy, diversity and inclusion, respect, and other core Jewish values, we focus on three: Education, Community and Repair the World.

Education

We believe education happens naturally through conversation in both formal and informal settings and through hands-on activities.

The Chamber hosts events that often include some type of education. Sometimes we have a speaker, other times it’s through meeting new people and engaging in conversations with people from diverse backgrounds. Other times, our events revolve around raising awareness about community issues, current events, and public affairs.

Some of our events may bring in controversial speakers or may be with organizations that don’t appear to be aligned with Jewish beliefs on the surface, however through these we teach tolerance, open-mindedness, and how to care for the stranger; we role model respect, and maximize opportunities to build bridges and practice Tikkun Olam.

Judaism teaches us to teach the successive generations, which goes beyond our children and family. Educating younger people is part of our culture. In that spirit, we educate through role modeling and conversation.

Community

We place relationships at the forefront of our efforts. Through relationships, friendships form, businesses grow, and communities are strengthened.

The Hebrew word kehila is frequently used as a way to express gathering for a common purpose. Based on Jewish text, human beings cannot fully realize themselves without relationships, and community is at the center of those relationships.

Yedidut means friendship, which is a core value of Judaism. The Chamber encourages its base to learn more about one another, and that often leads to creating new friendships.

The relationships that come from being part of the Chamber are one of the many intangible rewards of being a member. It feels good to share heartfelt moments, activities, and the ups and downs of our professional lives with friends.

In our community, we help each other. Members network to enhance their organizations and find new clients, referral partners, employees, and more. They also network to find out what others need and who would be a beneficial connection for them.

The Chamber is a great place for employers to meet potential employees who want to grow professionally, and for mentors to meet mentees who want to learn from them.

The Chamber strives to infuse cooperation and friendship into each communication while treating everyone with respect and dignity.

Heal the World

In Hebrew, the words Tikkun Olam, speak to Jewish hearts around the world. Popular culture uses Tikkun Olam as a catchphrase for social justice. However, it is generally translated as “repair the world” and is applied to all aspects of life from improving the environment to making a difference at work. As Jews, we are taught to take action. It’s part of our culture to stand up for what we believe is right. We view repairing the world as part of a thread that weaves us together to create a community.

The Jewish Chamber practices Tikkun Olam by hosting events that educate, raise funds, and spur activism for individuals who are struggling in our local community and abroad. We partner with other non-profit organizations to support relevant causes that affect our members and the greater community.

We bring people with diverse backgrounds together for relationship building and education. By knowing, understanding, and embracing strangers, strangers are no longer strangers. They become friends, colleagues, an important part of our network.

Our mission is to create connections, build bridges, and become a resource for the geographic communities in which we operate.

The Jewish Chamber of Commerce is different from other chambers of commerce and Jewish organizations.

We believe in relationships and give them the highest priority. We believe relationships advance business in almost every sense. People are more likely to work with, hire, buy-from, refer and recommend others with whom they have relationships. We strive to introduce our base to others who will be good matches for them.

We aim to find original ways to bring people together.

Most events have a sign-in sheet that asks who you would like to meet. If that person isn’t at the event, we will do our best to introduce you via email after the event.

We are value driven.

Our core values guide what we do and how we do it. The Chamber doesn’t represent these values alone. Built on this foundation, our events naturally reflect the values of education, community and repairing the world.

We are inclusive.

The Chamber is accessible to anyone who wants to join.

We are open to both Jewish professionals and non-Jewish professionals who want to do business with the Jewish community. We keep membership dues and event fees as low as possible (members often receive lower pricing for events with fees), and we actively seek venues that are easy to access for people from different geographic locations.

We continue to expand our network. As a community resource, it is our role to create relationships, improve cohesion within the Jewish community, and continue to connect our base with people they would like to meet.
